Maximum riders: 8 plus two Ride Leaders. Preregistration is essential. You need only register once for this project but can choose as many stages as you wish. Registration will open in early February 2019.
Estimated duration: 8 hours’ cycling at average moving speed of approx. 10mph, plus 2 food stops: total approx. 10 hours in total to allow for short water/snack/rest stops.
Start point: The CycleHub, Quayside, Newcastle-upon-Tyne NE6 1BU
Please arrive at starting point 30 minutes before departure for photos and briefing.
Departure time: 09:00
Getting to the start: The start point is on the Quayside, close to the City Centre. There is ample car and bike parking there.
Stopping/Leaving point: Rothbury, which is 33 miles from start and 33 miles to the finish. No train station.
Potential food stop / toilet break points en-route
12 miles from Newcastle at the Northumberland Cheese Company
33 miles from start – Picnic lunch at Rothbury. Public toilets on Bridge Street, Rothbury.
Thereafter any loo stops will need to be ‘al fresco’ until we get to Wooler.
